Reclaimed Wood Table with Removable Extensions.-
When Brian Fencer started to work on this Farm Table with extensions, these were the specifications the client gave,
- Antique Reclaimed Oak Medium to high character.
- Not too much flat sawn grains in top boards. Some contrasting between light and dark.
- Total expansion of the table 120″ with extensions.
This is a picture of the Table at the clients home.
Dimensions:
- 44+″ wide x 84″ long.
- Both extensions make table 120” long ( Each extension 18”)
- Height 29 ¾″ Tall. Top thickness 7/8+″ Thick
This are the techniques Brian used,
- Table was made with mortise and tenon Joinery – round pegged.
- Wood fillers and epoxies were used to fill most of the open knot holes, nail holes, worm scaring and larger worm holes, etc.
- Finish was 5 coats hand rubbed finished (satin sheen).
- The Special finish was resistant to common household chemicals, alcoholic beverages, hot /cold water, etc.
