Reclaimed Oak Table with Extensions

Reclaimed Wood Table with Removable Extensions.-

When Brian Fencer started to work on this Farm Table with extensions, these were the specifications the client gave,

  • Antique Reclaimed Oak Medium to high character.
  • Not too much flat sawn grains in top boards. Some contrasting between light and dark.
  • Total expansion of the table 120″ with extensions.

This is a picture of the Table at the clients home.

Dimensions:

  • 44+″ wide x 84″ long.
  • Both extensions make table 120” long ( Each extension 18”)
  • Height 29 ¾″ Tall.  Top thickness  7/8+″ Thick

This are the techniques Brian used,

  • Table was made with mortise and tenon Joinery – round pegged.
  • Wood fillers and epoxies were used to fill most of the open knot holes, nail holes, worm scaring and larger worm holes, etc.
  • Finish was 5 coats hand rubbed finished (satin sheen).
  • The Special finish was resistant to common household chemicals, alcoholic beverages, hot /cold water, etc.
