Description
Hi! Thanks for visiting our great-tables store.
If you are interested in a table like this but in a different size, wood species etc. we can custom make one for you, by making a work order for you!
This beautiful Trestle Table was made from two planks from one huge Antique Oak plank. The wood is estimated to be 150 years old. It has been carefully worked to where it still has some of the original spikes. It was last used as thresher flooring in a Pennsylvania barn.
The cracks and nails were epoxied and to add extra strength the Master Craftsman used butterfly’s (keys) to strengthen the cracks. There are 5 or 6 large butterflies in this tabletop.
In spite of Table base and top being built with reclaimed Oak, the origin of the wood used is different. The color of the base is slightly darker than the top, even though both (top and base) went through the same iron oxide process ebony stain was rubbed into the grain before final finishing. Finish is a marine grade Urethane. This is much like a poly urethane but is more flexible (allowing for the super wide planks to expand and contract with seasonal humidity change), water and household chemical resistant.
